Dorothy Perkins or DP (as we’re affectionately known) was one of the first big companies to understand the power of celebrity advertising. Supermodels Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon have sprinkled their magic and have both been the face of Dorothy Perkins, and more recently the brilliant Gok Wan fronted a media campaign designed to offer Dorothy Perkins customers style and body shape advice.
When we opened our doors back in 1919 we caused a stir with our five-shilling (25p) blouses and we’ve been shaking things up ever since. Despite opening in class-bound Edwardian times, when we were known as the very formal-sounding 'Ladies Hosiery and Underwear', we set the ball of democracy rolling through fashion by dressing a broad cross-section of society from working-class girls, to the glamorous Belle Epoque ladies of the time.
During the Swinging Sixties, when London ruled the fashion roost, we injected some sizzle into our brand by funding the launch of the groundbreaking Biba boutique on Kensington High Street. With its mix of art nouveau décor and rock and roll decadence the Biba brand was the perfect complement to Dorothy Perkins’ fun-loving image.
Today we run 600 inspirational UK stores and over 90 outlets worldwide, all of them providing unique, wearable and affordable fashion for women aged 25 - 35. Our largest store is dorothyperkins.com which ships to over 110 countries and showcases over 2,000, lines that are updated daily and receives approximately 500,000 customers every week. With over 100 years of experience and heritage underpinning our brand, we’re still setting our sights firmly on the future to provide women with the best of what the high street has to offer, by providing affordable and up-to-date fashion to a broad selection of tastes, sizes and lifestyles.
