Finance
We are not currently accepting applications for our finance graduate programme
What is it?
Arcadia's finance specialists provide an accurate, up-to-date picture of the company’s health and wealth, working closely with Managers and Directors to shape the overall strategy and individual brand direction.
The Graduate Finance Trainee programme fast-tracks individuals with potential and drive into Finance Manager positions. The programme is based in our Head Office in London, and includes structured placements selected to give you the best possible overview of the Arcadia business.
As a Finance specialist you will develop a varied career covering all aspects of retailing. Professional qualifications in CIMA or ACCA are encouraged and supported with a study package that allows progression alongside knowledge acquisition.
Training
This is a three-year programme based in our Head Office in London, which includes structured placements selected to give the best possible overview of the Arcadia business. You will focus on both operations and finance as well as addressing three key areas of practical experience.
After an initial business induction you will have time in a store to familiarise yourself with the frontline operations of the business. You will then embark on placements in three areas of finance:
- Buying and Merchandising Finance
- Retail Finance
- Shared Services Finance
You will be supported throughout by a buddy (someone from your peer group) as well as a member of senior finance management who will act as a mentor. Most trainees commence their study with CIMA or ACCA in their first year.
Career path
The typical career path for a Graduate Finance Trainee is as follows:

Profile
Josephine Quinlan
University of Bath: B.SC Mathematical Science (graduated June 2006)
Finance Graduate joined Arcadia in September 2007
After finishing my degree in Maths at Bath University I was interested in pursuing a career in Finance, and after doing some research I found Arcadia’s Finance Graduate Programme. I was initially attracted to how diverse and interesting the finance programme seemed as well as being very interested in the retail sector, especially fashion – so the role seemed ideal for me.
The progression within Arcadia is excellent and the training and support provided is second to none. My thoughts were confirmed at the assessment centre where I met current graduates and managers all of whom really enjoyed their jobs and were very passionate about the company. The culture is fun and fast paced-ideal for a graduate.
I currently work in Retail Finance for Dorothy Perkins. I prepare reports for Area Managers, Regional Controllers and stores to illustrate how they are performing individually and in contrast to one another. The Regional Controllers then use this information to formulate strategy regarding store improvements and how to increase store profitability in the future. I really enjoy how my work directly impacts upon crucial business decisions. I have recently been involved in formulating the Dorothy Perkins property strategy for the next five years, which has been a very interesting and challenging project.
I have really enjoyed my first few months at Arcadia. The work is really stimulating and varied and the people in the company are great fun. I have already started studying for CIMA and my manager and buddy have given me great support in implementing this. Arcadia is passionate about my development and delivers the training I require. There are also plenty of courses available for improving technical and soft skills. I would highly recommend this scheme to anyone interested in finance and fashion retail!
