Spring Into Style

Dorothy Perkins welcomes the return of soft feminine dressing for spring summer '10. Trends include the preppy inspired looks of GOSSIP GIRL and UNION CITY BLUES and the pretty romantic feel of SANCTUARY. For summer, the ethnic looks of BALI and TAHITI are key.

Conversational prints such as spots, stripes and cute clean ditsys are placed on playsuits, culottes and pretty dresses. These are given a modern edge when teamed with shrunken blazers and lace up biker boots.

Spring summer sees an innovative use of romantic fabrics such as crochet, lace, broderie anglais trimmed or embellished with sequins and pearls. Creams, peaches, nudes and blush tones make up a soft, light colour palette that complement the contrasting textures.

Whether it's a preppy blazer, embellished trophy jacket or a striped casual style, the jacket continues to be key for spring. For the ultimate in preppy chic, team a navy white tipped blazer with cute tailored shorts and tee.

The focus is on legs this season with casual utility and city shorts or flippy culottes all wardrobe must-haves. For the early part of the season wear with tights and ankle boots, then as temperatures rise, wear light weight styles with gladiator sandals.

Accessories are guaranteed to make a statement this spring summer. Key footwear for the season includes the heeled peep-toe ankle cuff boot and the flat worker style lace up boot. Bags are slouchy and studded with suede adding a touch of luxury to the range. For evening, the clutch continues to be a must-have, opt for jewel encrusted or muted metallics to complete the look.
