The campaign continues in 2008 - plant more trees and help save the planet
The story so far….
Following the overwhelming success of the 2007 Woodland Trust campaign, Dorothy Perkins is delighted to announce the launch of the 2008 collection.
The initial target for the 2007 collection was to raise £200,000 and therefore plant 40,000 trees at sites across the UK, but thanks to the amazing response and support from Dorothy Perkins customers and staff, nearly £500,000 has been raised to date, resulting in the planting of an astounding 100,000 trees.
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, caring for 50,000 acres of woodland in the UK and planting more than 500,000 native trees every year. The Trust works to protect British woodland and wildlife and raise awareness of the effects of climate change, which it sees as the biggest threat to trees and wildlife in the future.
2008 collection
This season’s new range is perfect for the hot summer months ahead. The eco-friendly capsule collection consists of a selection of t-shirts, camisole tops, shopper bags, hooded tops, flip-flops and wellington boots.
The clothing and bags are made from 100% organic cotton and come in leafy prints and a pretty green colour palette. Several pieces boast the distinctive ‘Plant More Trees’ slogan which underlines the campaign’s key message. The butterfly print wellington boots (£20) and printed hooded tops (£22) are ideal for unpredictable summer showers and camping holidays or festivals. Flip-flops (£8) and dainty camisoles (£14) are must-haves for sunny days. This season Dorothy Perkins is also introducing a jewellery element to the collection and offering a beaded charm bracelet with dainty leaf, acorn and toadstool charms.
A proportion of all sales will be donated to the Woodland Trust - £5 from every t-shirt, hooded top, pair of wellington boots and charm bracelet and £1.50 from the shopper bags and flip flops. Every £5 donated plants a tree in the UK.
Sue Holden, Chief executive of The Woodland Trust said, “Dorothy Perkins and their customers have made a truly lasting impression on our landscape. In 100 years time when the collection has long since become vintage, acres of woodland created thanks to these collections will still be flourishing and home to hundreds, if not thousands, of species. It's a fantastic achievement for which we're hugely grateful.”
The new Woodland Trust range will be available in all UK stores and online at dorothyperkins.com from beginning June 2008. Please call 0845 121 4515 or visit the website for store locations.
