Burton
Burton received an Institute of Fundraising Award in autumn 2007 for its work with Cancer Research UK's Bobby Moore Fund. Jointly they were awarded the Best Business-Charity Partnership title for their efforts during the 2006 World Cup Finals.
Burton raised more than £190,000 for CRUK through the sale of wristbands and t-shirts designed by England players and via employee fundraising during the tournament. The campaign is dedicated to the memory of former England captain Bobby Moore, who died from bowel cancer.
The campaign combined fundraising with some key health messages. More than 200,000 bowel cancer leaflets, highlighting the signs and symptoms of the disease, were distributed in Burton stores.
The partnership also generated extensive press coverage and helped to communicate important health messages to customers and staff.
