Arcadia is supporting the West London Waste Authority and E&W Couture campaign to create a beautifully intricate, upcycled wedding dress – by donating our fabrics and material off cuts!
The campaign, which also includes TRAID (the clothing take back charity), aims to encourage consumers to re-use and up-cycle their unwanted clothes and shoes. As a nation we throw away around 300,000 tonnes of textiles each year, contributing to over 5% of the UK’s annual Carbon and water footprint. This project demonstrates the beauty and potential that can come out of pre-loved clothing.
Watch the video below to find out more about the full impact of the throw-away culture and see what impact you can have by donating and recycling your clothing.
West London residents have the opportunity to win the stunning gown, designed by E&W Couture, by booking a TRAID collection between 23rd April - 22nd September 2019. To find out more about the competition and how to enter visit the West London Waste website.
This competition ended on the 22nd September and the winner will be announced soon, but in the mean time here are some of the environmental savings directly attributed to this competition...
