For AW14, Burton menswear pushes the boundaries with a clean, modern and sophisticated collection. The formal pieces mix herringbone fabrics with a rich colour palette of navy, emerald and berry. Meanwhile the casual looks are play on prints and pattern in charcoal, merlot and sky blue with accents of cobalt and saffron. These combined create a fresh take on the traditional winter wardrobe to provide the Burton man with distinctive, trend led outfits.
The AW14 range works around three major stories, covering all bases from everyday looks through to classic tailoring. The first of our key trends is the ‘Southbank’ collection. This casual range sees the Burton wearer through the transitional period from autumn into the winter months. Soft jersey fabrics in a core palette of grey marl, sapphire and midnight blue pull this everyday wearable collection into a league of its own. Bomber jackets, graphic t-shirts and statement sweaters complete the urban city-boy look.
Casual looks are explored further in our next story, the ‘Urban Expedition’. Key pieces for this sports led, outdoors-y trend span from lightweight anoraks to flannel shirts. This story is all about layering up the look; check print shirts are contrasted against classic Fair Isle knits and grey marl jersey. All of this is teamed with the hiker’s ultimate snow friendly accessories – the rugged rucksack and ever practical beanie hat.
This season sees Burton make a nod to the 1960’s with the ‘Retro Mod’ story. Drawing on influences from this incredible time in fashion history, this capsule collection moves away from the traditional and takes a more vintage, inspired approach. A colour palette of rose and plum sit alongside greys and neutrals on luxe, textured fabrics. Slim fit suiting is paired with classic button down shirts, fine gauge knitwear and classic outerwear in the form of the Mac and Crombie. The leather bomber and biker jackets add a casual spin on the look while adding a hint of luxury. Chevron and Herringbone patterns are subtly revealed throughout the smart casual knitwear.
Now it’s time to turn to our tailoring collections for AW14, full of timeless and sophisticated pieces. ‘Cubist’ is up first, celebrating tailoring at its finest – with a splash of colour. Petrol blues and pine greens adorn ultra-skinny fit suiting. Alongside this, crisp white shirting creates a more minimalistic approach. Accents of puppy tooth and Prince of Wales checks are introduced taking inspiration from the catwalk.
We have now arrived at our final destination, the ‘Rock Lux’ story. Adopting a deep, dark colour palette of claret reds, midnight blues and blacks this collection sees the Burton wearer right through the winter party season. Slim and skinny fit tailoring offers a contemporary take on traditional eveningwear. Grape, merlot and teal shirting modernises the style and introduces a more fashionable approach rather than the standard monochrome tux look.
