This autumn / winter Dorothy Perkins embraces two key looks: feminine and sophisticated winter pales and a bold mixture of textures. Shades of winter pales stand out for Dorothy Perkins for AW14. Simple clean lines and classic shapes celebrate the sophisticated style. Nude colour blocking – from pretty pastels to shades of grey create a low-key look – mixing textured knits with wrap around skirts. Grey has been celebrated in all its shades – whether it’s the oversized grey pinstripe trouser or the masculine tailored over coat. The summer pastels that were so big for SS14 have been updated in luxurious textured fabrics.
Outerwear is heavyweight and multi textured for AW14. Coats are making a statement. The ‘must have’ jacket of the season is the luxe parka, featuring a contrasting collar of shearling fur and sitting neatly on the waist - making wearable clothes and dressing down acceptable. The oversized boyfriend blazer has been updated in pastel blue and a pink check. Outerwear embraces texture and can be found in the long grey faux fur or jewel coloured shaggy furs.
Layering textures is key – whether it be fur, feathers, sequins or leather. Mixing the leather quilted mini with the sheer lace top creates a laidback luxe look. Jewel encrusted knits add a regal touch – cinched in at the waist to create a sharper yet still feminine shape. Leopard print makes a return for AW14 – paired with the bronze leather midi skirt to create ladylike chic. A power suit is a must have – the burgundy double breasted tailored two piece – moving away from the androgynous look of past seasons to a fresher and more feminine silhouette. Occassionwear this season sees pops of metallics and the layering of shimmery fabrics.
Accessories this season do all the talking from slogan clutches branded with ‘Going Out Out’ to statement over the knee boots. Ladylike bags are re worked with coatings of faux fur and feathers embracing the textured look of the season. Whilst winter sandals are embellished with exotic skins in jewel tones for those who dare to bare.
